Investment Strategy

We are multifamily specialists with over 50 years of experience in the sector. Berkshire has the capability and extensive track record to invest across the risk spectrum, in both debt and equity, and in both public and private markets. We also invest in other real estate sectors through opportunistic real estate ventures.

Berkshire focuses on high quality core, core-plus, and value-add multifamily properties in primary markets and sub-markets throughout the United States. We seek opportunities in markets with expected growth prospects and strong underlying fundamentals, and actively engage in managing and repositioning our assets to maximize their ultimate competitive position. We believe this strategy has the greatest likelihood of generating consistent returns and provides for stability in the face of economic recession relative to other strategies.

Historically, Berkshire has generated attractive, risk adjusted returns while minimizing potential downside risk by targeting investments that match our investors’ needs and fit with our organizational core competencies.*

Prior to capital deployment, Berkshire develops a business plan for each investment. Our integrated, multi-disciplined team of property operations, acquisitions, development, redevelopment, portfolio management and finance professionals is involved in all aspects of this planning process.

Berkshire Group's Venture Investments invests in other property sectors by targeting strategic relationships with growing, high-potential real estate operating platforms nationwide and investing in entity-level and GP programmatic ventures.
